Challenge
Automate Lighting for Agoura Hills Family of 5.
Imagine never touching a light switch again. For this family in Agoura Hills, the goal was to design a system where lighting and blinds worked together effortlessly. The smart blinds automatically adjust to let in the right amount of natural light, while motion sensors control the interior lighting based on movement. Additionally, voice control was integrated for easy override when needed. The challenge was creating a seamless experience where all of these elements—motion, natural light, and voice commands—worked in harmony to adjust the home’s lighting without any manual intervention, ensuring comfort and convenience at all times.
Solutions
To bring this vision to life, we leveraged the family’s existing Google Home device and integrated it with a selection of smart technologies. Aqara Smart Plugs and Aqara Smart Switches were used to control the lighting, while Aqara Motion Sensors were strategically placed to detect movement and adjust the lights automatically. Sweet Smart Home Blinds were installed to manage natural light, adjusting the blinds’ tilt based on the time of day and weather conditions. All of these devices were connected to an Aqara Hub, which synced with the SmartSafeHomes Controller. The system was then integrated with the family’s Google Home device, allowing voice commands to override or adjust settings as needed. The programming in the SmartSafeHomes Controller ensures that the lights and blinds work together seamlessly, providing a hands-free, intuitive experience that adapts to the family’s daily routine.
